BLAST Shifts - Wednesday 4PM- 1200
In addition to normal running and wire chamber conditioning we did the
following.
Larry Loncoy instituted a bump at the injection septum after the fill
using chime. This was effective in reducing the halo (BQM) rates and
should be incorporated into the ring fill software.
In addition we tried positioning the scrapers at injection to image 13
mm diameter projected to the cell position. This is following Jan's line
of thinking that perhaps some of the spray at the target during
injection could be reduced if the scrapers covered the cell wall.
Injection proceeded without difficulty, but the halo rates were not
reduced. This might imply that the bulk of the background during
injection comes from the injection line.
