First part of shift was spent tuning up beam with new holding field angle (and no gas in target). Halo monitors were quite low after tuning was complete. Run 5784 is a 1.5 hour empty target run. Some plots in logbook of halo rates and wire chamber spectra. Few if any events survived cuts indicating that background is low.
At 7:30, the South Hall was opened to address the problem with the Strong Field Transition Gradient Field. Peter Binns traced the problem to a connection external to the vacuum system had burned up and the problem appears to be fixed. Genya is retuning target now. Beam is being restored now.
