[BLAST_ANAWARE] BLAST analysis meeting

From: Tancredi Botto (tancredi@lns.mit.edu)
Date: Wed Apr 14 2004 - 19:26:32 EDT

These are the minutes of the discussions we had today at analysis
meetings (and some off-line reactions to that).

_ TB discussed an organization of the analysis in terms of groups
more to follow in another email

_ TB: First priority for next week is to compare target polarization
      to MonteCarlo predictions.

_ MonteCarlo generated asymmetry proportional to P_target*P_beam
_ Needs proper averaging of theta*, phi* angle (event by event)
_ There is no consistent answer on Pz, Pzz from (ee'p), (e'd) yet

_ VZ, CZ: MonteCarlo predictions already used for D(ee'p) and D(ee'd).

_ It assumed spin angle was 45 deg at all z, but computed
          theta*, phi* for each q-vector
_ For (ee'd) the montecarlo curve was smooothed by a fit

_ CC: doing the same for ep elastic. Almost done

_ VZ asks: what to do if theta* changes w.r.t Z_target ?

_ Need to put vertex in cross section table.
_ Note: this is hard for DGen(ee'p) where cross section
table is already very big. Alternatively one can use
flat generator and weigh each event with cross section.

_ TA: plans on becoming montecarlo expert. welcome!

_ Needs holding field map for blastmc
_ see above for event generator

_ MK: expect neutron bar offsets soon
_ Will have to re-crunch all D2 data
_ Needs a lot of buds

_ DH: are calibrations/config files read from db ?
_ Answer is yes. Built in switch already exists.

_ PK: TOF offsets written to blast.sc_cal, not to db
        _ working to change that
_ determining TDC shifts since saturday
_ also working on ed vector asymmetry !

_ CZ: preparing updates to DST for next recrunch.

_ Please contact him if you have (reasonable) request
_ See dst_filter.C for general purpose filter

_ VZ: add branch of raw neutron tdc info
                     (for n-calibration)
_ TB: add TOF (x,y) impact position from tracking
                     (can help tdc offsets!)
_ also add Cerenkov X,Y impact position
                     (for efficiency function determination)

*NOTE: ErnieB is trying to automount all the spud data disks, the common
scratch disk will be restored soon.
