[BLAST_ANAWARE] Minutes of the Wed 2/25 meeting

From: Michael Kohl (kohlm@mit.edu)
Date: Fri Feb 25 2005 - 06:40:06 EST

-DH reporting from last week (no minutes)
 +TF,NM gave reports
+TF working on MC for pi+
 +TF's MC differs from AS's
+NM presented first extraction of GMn from singles

-Discussion about TOSCA calculations of magnetic fields w/ w/o Cerenkov
shielding; angles are ok but momenta are shifted. Cerenkov shielding
could modify field strength in regions relevant for tracking, needs
 to be quantified

-Option to invite van Buren to talk to people

-AS: holding field implemented in BlastLib
Discussing holding field effect. Mainly modifies phi, only on a
degree level. Dispersive coordinates like theta or p are not affected
to first order (would not explain large momentum corrections)

-Discussing TB's farewell gift

Going around
-VZ: writing. Asking for update on schematics of BLAST
electronics. Should contact PK. Schematics should be made
     available on BLAST homepage.
-DH: mentions a problem about his MC sample: When repeating the same
MC sample with different seeds, finds that counts are
     gaussian-distributed but width doesn't go like sqrt(N)
-BF: Suggests to clean up /home/blast. Remove old users.
-EG: reports from his neutron analysis. Had previously taken wrong
accumulated charges, now asymmetries look better (consistent with
     Vitaliy's).
EG's/VZ's analysis are independent in terms of chosen cuts and
setting up the analysis macro. Consider to start analysis from
DST. Finds 40% less normalized yield when using dst compared to
flr ntuple. Stopped work on momentum resolution.

General discussion:
In general, kinematical corrections are applied post-recon

Considering a test measurement with a magnetic field probe to see if
the Cerenkov shielding has any effect on the inner part of the BLAST
field where it is relevant for tracking. Suggested e.g. to stick probe
onto BLAST coil and move subframe in and out.

Diskspace: Two more spuds to come up, >1.5TB raid servers each.
For future two analysis directories are desired, 1) one for lrn
results and 2) one for lrd results based on DST in 1).

Regards,

  Michael
