Hi,
please do not run any extensive >100MB internet downloads from Bates as
it may typically be the case for "crunched data".
Any download without bandwidth limitation would eat up the bottleneck
speed of <=1Mbit/s and makes interactive connections extremely slow.
Big downloads can take days or even weeks, which is unfair against
other users and not tolerable.
There are more effective methods to transfer bigger volumes of 100+GB,
such as external hard drives which can be sent between Bates and LNS, or
be shipped to anywhere needed. That's still faster by factors and wouldn't
affect anybody's work. It all just takes a word to myself, Brian
McAllister or Barbara Santorella.
