an error when using CVS

Hello, all:

I just tried to use CVS to get a "fresh" copy of everything (i.e. the "co"
option). Towards the end of checkout, I got the following error messages:

cvs server: Updating userGen
U userGen/Makefile.in
cvs server: Updating userGen/DGen
cvs server: failed to create lock directory in repository
`/home/blast/cvsroot/userGen/DGen': Permission denied
cvs server: failed to obtain dir lock in repository
`/home/blast/cvsroot/userGen/DGen'
cvs [server aborted]: read lock failed - giving up

Does anyone know what's wrong?
