Summary of day shift 7-13-02

Discussion with night crew, we are convinced timing data for left sector from
last night do not make sense. Found two errors
_software: the electronics map file was wrong. The analysis was actually
overwriting the valid meantimer/retime info so all timing spectra
were actually relative to a single cerenkov tube. Fixed
_ hardware: because of the above one could not realize that the meantimer
data was not being fed to the TDC due to a bad cable in the delay
line and the use of the NIM/ECL unit for fan-out. Fixed
Take data: injection typically up to 80 mA and re-inject at 20-30 mA. All
timing peaks are fine and are all sub-ns wide. There are two bad TOF's on the
left sector (each a bad tube) while for TOFL16 looks like there is a software
problem. Went to D-tunnel but could not immediately trace the problem however,
we agree with john these TOF's timing can be fixed later with the flasher.
We optimize the left sector TOF delays. Everything is well lined up to within
+-1 ns (note, the delay unit has a resolution of 2 ns). Finally done
with step 6 of run-plan!! (for left sector). Saved trigger settings (see
also logbook). At 15.45 Access the hall to move the start counter
(requires opening detector sub-frame). Reconnected right TOF16 and changed
meantimer input for right sector TOF's. Taking data. Note that all data of
today and last night is good for analyzing coincs.

we have left sample histograms and rates in the logbook. Also, we started a
to-do list as wel as a "problems" list. Slowly we should gather this
information in a more orderly way. If you are responsible for a sub-system
(e.g. chambers?) please leave your phone number on the board. And please
put dates and names in the logbook !!
