during this shift, it became apparent (at two separate times) that v14 on the target wasn't working correctly. the reason for this ultimately turned out to do with recent increase in the holding field. high holding field values prevent v14 from opening. it'll close okay, just not open.
after that, bill did an atomic fraction measurement and found around 50%, close to what vitaliy found last night.
data taking started, but i failed to notice that abs states 1 AND 2 were both on. this corresponds to unpolarized data. we cycled the 2-3 transition, and polarized data is now being taken.
