Richard,
The matrix elements that enter into the transition probabilities are
field dependent. I included plots of the matrix elements for the
electron and sigma transitions in my previous email from 5/13.
If we operated the longitudinal target at 500Gauss, the transition
probability of the sigma transitions would have been a factor of 2
less and we would expect a higher tensor polarization value. I will
do a calculation with a higher field value to look at the size of
the effect.
