Re: Analysis meeting tomorrow Wednesday 11/02/2005

Hi Eugene,
One thing that I mentioned in the meeting was that ideally one
should not just determine the offsets by requiring elastic
constraints on the momentum or matching the beam energy, but one
should systematically minimize all 5 over-constrained wire chamber
parameters of elastic kinematics to get best-fit offsets of each wire
chamber track parameter. Of course, ideally one should work directly
with physical hardware offsets like the magnetic field and wire
chamber geometry, and first try to get those offsets from calibration
data like cosmics or straight tracks before calibrating on elastic
data. If you just go about trying to calibrate one variable from
another, you have no way of knowing which one was correct in the
first place.
