[BLAST_SHIFTS] summary C shift 8-28-02

23:30 still waiting for beam!

_ Test blast field at 6730A: the first time we ramp p.s. its trips, the
second time is succesful. Attached, comparison field on (blue) field
off (red), which is still good !

_ Start looking at Cer issues. Very active tubes is one problem. On cosmics
LC1 and RC2 easily count > 30 kHz, while other boxes are in 100's of Hz
range. Note, a tof paddle counts 30 Hz. Definitely the issue with LC1 is HV
  channel 3 (crate 3, slot6) which I reduce to 1750 V (from 1950) making the
rate acceptable (5 kHz). No clear hot tube found for RC2.

_ Plan for tomorrow: hall will be open part of the day. Finsh installation
of new Cer tdc cables (they were still of the "short" type, 60 ns or 1200
tdc channels shorter) , study tube-by-tube C analogues signal as a
function of voltage. This high rate must be clearly visible!

_ Evening: start in earnest data taking with field on (for inbenders)
           and Cer efficiency studies.

NOTE: please don't forget to send me when you *can not* be called for
shift. Telling me of when you "prefer" to come is only good in 2nd
      order !

(In other words, i don't mean to say that a preference will be systematically
ignored, but everybody's preferences at all times are hard to satisfy. If
you have real engagements state clearly where they are..)
