Hi,

In future, if lrn hangs, please record the approximate number of event
where it hangs up. To do this, simply go the the "crunching" xterm where
all those lovely dots are printed, count the dots:
        210000 .........:.........:...
would count to 212300, ie ":" for each 1000 and "." for each 100.

write it down in shift summary of log book or anywhere your heart desires.
Just make sure either Chris and I can retrieve it.

this would make debugging of software much easier and faster in that we do
not need to reprocess 100k events to reproduce the crash.

If you are very eager to help, you can save/copy the message dumped by the
program somewhere.
