[BLAST_ANAWARE] cerenkov analysis puzzlement

when i look at the hit cerenkov number (i.e. ncl and ncr), i get values
ranging from 0 to 4, inclusive. it is my understanding (perhaps wrongly)
that we have three cerenkov boxes on either side with ncl/ncr value
running from 0 to 2, inclusive. if this is so, does anyone know why
ncl/ncr values of 3 and 4 also show up? perhaps there is a cerenkov box
in front of the bats. however, if so, it is only one cerenkov box,
not two, right? it might account for an ncl/ncr value of 3 but not 4.
also, when i look at the TOF's ntl/ntr value for particular values of
ncl/ncr, i get pretty much nonsense when ncl/ncr equals 3 or 4.
