        Hi,

As promised in the last meeting, we are ready to release a first
version of BLAST reconstruction, NSED (event display) and blastroot
(root for blast).
These softwares are currently installed in /home/blast/blast/bin
diretory.
I will ask Ernie to soft link /usr/bin/NSED to
/home/blast/blast/bin/NSED
and /usr/bin/blastroot to /home/blast/blast/bin/blastroot so that anyone
can use these softwares without doing much work.

For example, to use event display, from any machine (with Redhat 7.3)
at the Bates lab
and from any account, you can just type,

        /home/blast/blast/bin/NSED 3070

This will display run 3070. By clicking next, previous and goto, you
can navigate
through any events in this run. For running root analysis scripts, you
type,

        /home/blast/blast/bin/blastroot -l script.C

This will run your script.

Now, you do not have to set you enviroment variables and follow other
complicated
steps to make the already compiled binary to run from your own account!
When Ernie is
done with softlink, one should be able to just type "NSED" instead of
"/home/blast/blast/bin/NSED."

As the subject of this E-mail suggests, this is a beta version of the
tracking
code, which is most upto date but may still have bugs. Please try to
use it, and if
you find a bug, please report bugs to one of tracking people.

        Thanks,
        -T
